LITHUANIA
Area – 65,300 sq. km
Population – 3,254 million
Ethnic composition: Lithuanian 83%, Russian 4.8%, Poles 6%, Belarusian 1.1%, Ukrainian 0.7%, Jews 0.1%
Main religion – Roman Catholic
State language – Lithuanian, which belongs to the Baltic branch of the Indo-European languages.
Capital – Vilnius. Other bigger cities: Kaunas, Klaipėda (a port), Šiauliai, Panevežys.
